This column is a splendid baroque monumental work that was carried out between 1716 and 1754 according to the project of the architect Václav Render, who wanted to build a masterpiece that had no comparison. When Václav died, he was performing the first level of the column, with an interior chapel that can be visited and some of the decoration in relief of the apostles. In 1733, after the death of the architect, his followers continued with the task. Ondrej Zahner (1709-1752) finished the sculptures of twenty-one statues with a size at scale and superior to the human, in a period of three years. The 9 of September of 1754 the masterpiece was inaugurated with a solemn ceremony in which they attended Maria Theresa of Austria and the Emperor Francisco I. At the top, dominating the monument, is the sculptural group of the Holy Trinity golden in its entirety. God the Father is represented as an elder, Christ appears as a young man carrying a cross in his right hand and the Holy Spirit appears as a dove that is situated in the center of a radiant sun. Under the Holy Trinity, at his feet, we have the Archangel Michael brandishing a sword and holding a shield, a fact that represents the struggle of the church to separate the celestial sphere from the earthly sphere. Below, we can observe the Assumption which is held by two angels and represents the intermediary between the two worlds. The column is very enriched with representations of the theological virtues, the saints closest to Christ and the Virgin Mary and the local, the fathers of the church, the patrons of the Slav nation, who are St. Cyril and St. Methodius Two missionary brothers from Thessalonica who preached in Crimea and in Great Moravia), accompanied by martyrs, such as St. John Nepomuk, the saint of the secret of confession and the patron of Bohemia, much loved by the local church. In the year 2000, this column of the Holy Trinity was recognized as "Patrimony of humanity" by Unesco.1 Traductor de Google para empresas:Google Translator ToolkitTraductor de sitios web
