Manizales city is the seat of Caldas state in Colombia. Located in the beautiful coffee rich valleys, Manizales is a perfect gateway for the stunning Nevados National Natural Park and the surrounding hot springs and resorts such as Termales del Otoño, Termales del Santa Rosa and Termales del Nevado.The Cathedral in Manizales is built in a neo-Gothic style and includes fine reliefs on the three front bronze doors and colourful stained glass windows. The reliefs tell the history of the cathedral and the city. The Cathedral is located in the spacious Plaza de Bolivar, the main square in Manizales. In the centre of the square we find the interesting Bolivar-Condor statue, Manizales peculiar tribute to Simon Bolivar 'El Libertador'. The Gold Museum in Manizales is small, but has got a nice collection of gold and ceramic items.Manizales is a pleasant break from the hustle and bustle of larger cities like Medellin, Bogota and Cali but still it has a youthful, progressive feel due to the numerous student population. In a nutshell, Manizales has it all.
