About the destination: Ceské Budejovice is the administrative, cultural and economic centre of Southern Bohemia. The Czech king Premysl Otakar II founded the town at the confluence of Malse and Vltava rivers. Everyone knows the German name of this town, Budweis, for one reason: beer. Beer is still their top attraction, but this town is much more than just beer. There are many historic monuments and museums and it is a pleasant city to unwind in. The architecture and atmosphere of the old town and city centre is very charming. Medieval ground plan of the historical city centre with rectangular grid of streets has been preserved up till today. Long rows of arcades, renaissance, baroque and classicism houses and partly preserved fortifications are the most interesting sights in the old town. The heart of Ceské Budejovice is the large market square. Přemysl Otakar II Square, one of the most beautiful squares in the Czech Republic, is almost a perfect square in shape and is surrounded on all sides by Baroque burgher houses with arcades. At this square you will find the Samson fountain as well as the town hall, the most beautiful building in the square. The main church of the old town was built in the 17th century, it is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of the merchants. His statue stands above the middle portal. The Black Tower is the landmark of the city. It dates from the 16th century and withstood the devastating fire that destroyed most of the city in 1641. If you feel energetic you can climb the tower's 225 stairs and enjoy the fabulous view over the city from the gallery. As the birthplace of one of Europe’s finest brews, a visit to the Budvar brewery is almost mandatory. Check out the museum for a demonstration of the brewing process and a free taste!

About the destination: This column is a splendid baroque monumental work that was carried out between 1716 and 1754 according to the project of the architect Václav Render, who wanted to build a masterpiece that had no comparison. When Václav died, he was performing the first level of the column, with an interior chapel that can be visited and some of the decoration in relief of the apostles. In 1733, after the death of the architect, his followers continued with the task. Ondrej Zahner (1709-1752) finished the sculptures of twenty-one statues with a size at scale and superior to the human, in a period of three years. The 9 of September of 1754 the masterpiece was inaugurated with a solemn ceremony in which they attended Maria Theresa of Austria and the Emperor Francisco I. At the top, dominating the monument, is the sculptural group of the Holy Trinity golden in its entirety. God the Father is represented as an elder, Christ appears as a young man carrying a cross in his right hand and the Holy Spirit appears as a dove that is situated in the center of a radiant sun. Under the Holy Trinity, at his feet, we have the Archangel Michael brandishing a sword and holding a shield, a fact that represents the struggle of the church to separate the celestial sphere from the earthly sphere. Below, we can observe the Assumption which is held by two angels and represents the intermediary between the two worlds. The column is very enriched with representations of the theological virtues, the saints closest to Christ and the Virgin Mary and the local, the fathers of the church, the patrons of the Slav nation, who are St. Cyril and St. Methodius Two missionary brothers from Thessalonica who preached in Crimea and in Great Moravia), accompanied by martyrs, such as St. John Nepomuk, the saint of the secret of confession and the patron of Bohemia, much loved by the local church. In the year 2000, this column of the Holy Trinity was recognized as "Patrimony of humanity" by Unesco.1 Traductor de Google para empresas:Google Translator ToolkitTraductor de sitios web
